Shrewsbury Police Blotter: Christmas Morning Crime Spree

The following information was supplied by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Friday, December 23

Police arrested the passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation. The south St. Louis City man had outstanding traffic warrants in St. Louis City.

Sunday, December 25

At 4:30 a.m. officers found personal items in the middle of the roadway in the 5000 block of Michael Avenue. Police subsequently located a vehicle with a broken window in the 5100 block of Michael Avenue. Items stolen from the vehicle included the book bag found in the road, as well as other books and personal items.

At 5:50 a.m. police responded to the 7700 block of Suffolk for a report of items stolen from an unlocked vehicle. In the same block, the driver side window of a second vehicle was broken and the stereo stolen from the dash. A stereo speaker was also stolen from the trunk. Witnesses reported seeing a male subject standing next to an older model light colored vehicle in the 7700 block of Suffolk at approximately 4:30 a.m., but did not contact police at that time. Items belonging to a resident in the 4300 block of Exeter were also found at the scene. Officers responded to the 4300 block of Exeter and determined that an unlocked vehicle had been stolen from that location. The vehicle was recovered in Crestwood on Wednesday.

At 6:47 a.m., police discovered the rear window of a vehicle broken and papers lying in the street in the 7800 block of Garden Avenue. The victim advised that the only thing taken from the vehicle were the papers found in the street.

Monday, December 26

At 4:30 a.m., an officer located an unoccupied vehicle in the 7500 block of Suffolk Avenue that had been reported stolen in St. Louis City. The vehicle contained items belonging to the victim of a prior theft in the 5100 block of Michael Avenue. The vehicle was towed and the owner notified.

Wednesday, December 28

A north St. Louis City man was arrested on numerous outstanding warrants following a traffic stop for expired plates in the 7200 block of Lansdowne. The man was issued citations to appear in the Shrewsbury Municipal Court on Shrewsbury charges and was released to another agency.

A south St. Louis County man was arrested for driving with a revoked driver’s license following a traffic stop for an expired license plate. The man was issued citations to appear in the Shrewsbury Municipal Court.

A resident in the 5000 block of Wilshusen Avenue was arrested on charges of trespassing and property damage after returning to a residence from which he had been evicted. The man broke a window to gain access to the residence. He was arrested after police discovered the broken window and conducted a search of the residence, where they found the subject on the second floor. He was released on summonses to appear in the Shrewsbury Municipal Court.
