Shrewsbury Police Blotter: Drunks Attempt Rothman Break-In

The following information was supplied by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Friday, May 4

At 5:15 p.m. a gold 2002 Infiniti side-swiped a white 2002 Infiniti and left the scene of the accident without exchanging information. This accident took place on the southbound Shrewsbury Avenue overpass of Interstate 44. Police located the suspect vehicle in a driveway in Affton, and an Affton man was issued a citation for Leaving the Scene of an Accident.

Prior to Sunday, May 6 at 7:44 PM, someone used a pry tool to break a rear basement window in the 7800 block of Garden Avenue. No property was reported stolen.

Wednesday, May 9

Police arrested four intoxicated suspects that tried to pry the lock off the loading dock door at Rothman Furniture, 7737 Watson Rd. Police were called to the business to investigate the crime on Wednesday, May 9 at 10 a.m. No property was reported stolen.  The incident occurred at 1:30 a.m.

Police were called to Wehner Park to investigate the theft of a lacrosse goal owned by Vianney High School. The goal was secured to a chain link fence with a chain and a lock. The chain was cut with a pry tool. The theft took place prior to Wednesday, May 9 at 6:40 p.m.

At 9:50 p.m. a police officer heard a loud noise in the 7300 block of Watson Road and discovered the glass partition of a Metro bus stop had been shattered. Police are looking for a white male, balding, heavyset about five foot ten inches tall wearing khaki shorts and a dark colored shirt that ran into the wooded area south of the bus stop.

Thursday, May 10

At 12:48 a.m. police received a call for a burglary in the 800 block of Diehnwells Drive.  Sometime between Wednesday, May 9 at 1:30 p.m. and Thursday, May 10 at 12:40 a.m., unknown suspect(s) entered the apartment and removed the following items: an Apple computer, finger pad & keyboard, a Panasonic 42 inch Plasma television, two check books, a Charter cable box, a VHS player a DVD player, 250 DVD’s, and IPOD and a digital camera.
