Shrewsbury Police Blotter: Woman Shoplifts $158 Worth of Costume Jewelry

Friday, Jan. 27

A man from South St. Louis City was arrested for stealing a woman’s purse from her unattended, unlocked vehicle parked in the 600 block of South Laclede Station Road on October 14. After the purse was stolen, police developed a suspect that used the victim’s credit card at a convenience store in South St. Louis City. Formal charges for Stealing Over $500.00 are pending a review by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Police were called to Dierbergs, 7233 Watson Rd. to investigate a shoplifting in progress at 11:30 a.m. A woman from South St. Louis City was issued a citation for stealing $158.18 worth of costume jewelry.

A woman from Shrewsbury was issued a citation of possession of marijuana after a traffic stop at S. Laclede Station Road and Garden Avenue on Friday.

A homeowner in the 7500 Suffolk Avenue reported copper gutters stolen from his home prior to Saturday, January 28 at 9:25 a.m. A second report was filed on Thursday, February 2 about downspouts taken from a home in the 7600 block of Suffolk Ave. Police are looking for a maroon colored GM product (Chevy or Pontiac) that was seen driving in the area around 11 a.m. on Thursday. Residents are urged to contact dispatch at (314) 645-3000 if they see any suspicious persons or vehicles in their neighborhood.

A license plate was reported lost or stolen from a vehicle in the 7700 block of Suffolk Avenue.  The plate was removed from the vehicle some time in the past three months.

Police recovered and towed an abandoned BMW from the 7600 block of Kenrick Manor Drive.  The vehicle had been in an accident and the driver left the scene prior to police arriving.

Friday, Feb. 3

A white, BMX bicycle was reported stolen from the 7600 Sutherland Avenue. In addition to the bike, police are looking for a suspect wearing a red Cardinal jacket with a white hoody underneath the jacket.
