Shrewsbury Police: Man Jailed on Multiple Charges After Night in South City Bar

Sunday, April 14

A South St. Louis City man was arrested for failing to dim his headlights and driving while intoxicated in the 7200 block of Watson Road at 12:10 a.m. The suspect’s breath sample was measured at .105% and he was issued citations to appear in municipal court.

 Tuesday, April 16

Police issued citations to a Union, MO, woman for possession of drug paraphernalia and for speeding 79 MPH in a 60 MPH zone on eastbound Interstate 44 near Shrewsbury Avenue.

 Thursday, April 18

A white or silver SUV sustained rear passenger side bumper damage after an accident on Kenrick Manor Drive and S. Laclede Station Road.  The driver of the SUV left the scene of the accident without exchanging insurance information.

 Friday, April 19

Police arrested a man from O’Fallon, IL, who was captured at a home in South St. Louis County after he left the scene of a traffic stop by a Shrewsbury police officer in the 7400 block of Watson Rd. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 2:30 a.m. The driver initially stopped for police and told the officer his most current address and then he drove from the area after the officer asked him to step out of the car to perform field sobriety tests. The suspect was located at the home that he told the officer he was staying. He was  inside the home, underneath the basement staircase; he refused to cooperate with police and resisted arrest. After several verbal commands and warnings to show his hands and to exit the stair case area, police tased the suspect, took him to a hospital and he was brought to jail after a night of drinking at a bar in South St. Louis City. He was charged with failure to drive in a single lane, disobeying a stop sign, an electric signal violation, failing to signal, driving while intoxicated, failing to comply with officers, resisting arrest and possession of an open container of alcohol inside his vehicle.
