South County Man Charged With Beating, Choking His Girlfriend

St. Louis County Police said Matthew Newtson assaulted his girlfriend at their home in the 4600 block of Heidelberg Avenue.

A South County man is accused of beating and choking his girlfriend June 11 at their home.

Matthew S. Newtson, 23, of the 4600 block of Heidelberg Avenue in unincorporated South County, was charged June 12 with second-degree domestic assault.

St. Louis County Police said Newtson beat and choked his girlfriend, injuring her. According to a court document, Newtson’s mother also punched the woman.

Newtson posted a $50,000 bond and was released June 13.
