Update: Fake Burger King Shooting Will Result in Charges

Sunset Hills police has filed charges against a man for making a false report.

Sunset Hills Police have confirmed that a man who claimed to have been shot several times by a stranger in the Burger King parking lot in September has been charged with filing a false police report.

Dave Knight, the Communications Supervisor at the Sunset Hills police department said the man has been issued a summons to appear before the Sunset Hills court.

Officers said the 45-year-old man was actually shot in Jennings, Mo.

St. Louis County Police have taken over the investigation.

In September the man arrived at an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries and said he was approached by a stranger while walking from his car into the restaurant. He said the stranger pointed a long barrel revolver at him, and that he was shot several times following a struggle to grab the weapon.

Sunset Hills Police Chief William LaGrand said the man took officers to the actual site of the incident in Jennings.

A representative with St. Louis County Police said the department is currently working to determine the true nature of the attack.

That sure is one strange story. Why would someone who is shot actually drive to another location and claim to be shot there? Why cover for the shooter?

The man didn't report the incident 'at the scene,' but waited until later in the evening when he went to the hospital. Definitely strange.
