In the tiny city of St. George, which has seen turmoil in its leadership over the past several years, a campaign by a crew of write-in candidates may have dramatically swept the elections. Write-in ballots outnumbered votes for incumbents in the races for mayor, Ward 2 alderman and Ward 3 alderman. In Ward 2, a second board of aldermen spot was up for grabs to write-in candidates without any candidates on the ballot. On Sunday the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that current alderman and write-in mayoral candidate Carmen Wilkerson had organizd the campaign, possibly with the intent of disincorporating the municipality.
