Affton School Board Race Begins Today

Filing for two seats on the Affton School District Board of Education opens on Tues., Dec. 11, 2012, and closes on Jan. 15, 2013.  The three-year terms of Mr. Michael McNeil and Mr. Christopher Castellanos will expire.   The two available seats are for three-year terms.  

Interested residents of the Affton School District who are United States citizens, 24 years of age or older, and have resided in the state of Missouri one year preceding the election are eligible for candidacy. 

Candidates may file in the superintendent's office at 8701 Mackenzie Road between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the following dates:          December 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 and January 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15.  On Jan. 15, 2013, the last day for filing, candidates may file between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.   

The office is closed from Dec. 24, 2012 – Jan. 1, 2013. 

The election will be held on Tues., April 2, 2013.  Under the provisions of Missouri Statute Section 115.124, if the number ofcandidates who file is the same as the number of positions to be filled by the election (two), there will be no election.  If this is the case, at the April organizational meeting, the district will swear in those who file.
