Ann Wagner Responds to Democratic Recount

After a recount resolved for the 2nd Congressional District's Democratic ticketholder, Republican candidate Ann Wagner says her goal is the same.

After the Aug. 7 primary race left Glenn Koenen the Democratic choice for the 2nd Congressional District with a , challenger Harold Whitfield .

and reaffirmed Koenen's win by 48 votes. 

Ann Wagner, Republican candidate for the 2nd Congressional District—which includes parts of Affton-Shrewsbury Patch—had won the primary for the Republican ballot spot without any questions.

"We started this campaign nearly 17 months ago with a goal of returning strong, effective and conservative leadership to Congress," Wagner said in an email. "Regardless of who our political opponents are, that goal still remains."  

Wagner and Koenen are running for the 2nd Congressional seat for the Nov. 6 election.

"Over the next 55 days we will continue to talk directly to the voters and earn every vote," Wagner said.
