New County Library Planned for Gravois and Musick: Good Spot?

Are you concerned about adding a library to that corner? Or do you think that it's a good spot for one?

Following last week's story about a St. Louis County Library branch being planned for the corner of Gravois and Musick roads, some folks in Affton are wondering whether that's the right location.

That's because of the current level of traffic and future construction of a subdivision next to that corner. Affton readers shared their comments on the original article and our Facebook page

On Facebook, Kate Sanfilippo McKay wrote, "That intersection is already a pain, adding the library, and subdivision will make it a nightmare."

Sue Welch wrote, "I am not happy about seeing anything go there. Would much rather continue to see the empty land."

Nancy Barred-Lauer suggested an alternative location: Grasso Plaza. That's the location that previously housed a Save-a-Lot grocery store. As Barred-Lauer noted, there's plenty of parking available.

Others are simply happy that the intersection won't include a gas station or similar development, however. Larry Stone wrote, "Having a St. Louis County Public Library at that location is excellent and is preferential to having anything retail at that very busy intersection."
