New Library Branch Planned at Gravois and Musick

The planned library will be on the corner next to a subdivision going up.

A St. Louis County Library branch is planned for the corner of Gravois and Musick roads. Next to that corner, a McBride subdivision is being built.

The St. Louis County Planning Commission will discuss the issue at its August 19 meeting at 7 p.m. at the County Government Center in Clayton.

County planner Pat Detch said the 4.3-acre site is being rezoned from Mixed Use Development to Residential. She said there are no site plans yet.

“All we know is they want to rezone it to the same zoning classification as what will be the adjoining subdivision,” she said.

She said a library can be located in any residential zoned district, so for convenience sake they’re using the same zoning as the subdivision that’s also coming in.

Detch said mixed use zoning—its current zoning—doesn’t work because there will be only one use on the parcel.
