Shrewsbury Centennial Bricks Engraved at City Hall

Shrewsbury's 100th birthday kicks off with personalized pavers at city hall.

Next time you walk in to Shrewsbury City Hall, watch your step. You'll be walking on bricks engraved with names and messages in honor of the city's 100th birthday in 2013.

Engravers from Monuments of St. Louis began installing the pavers Tuesday morning. Josh Evans and C.J. Zehnle used adhesive to attatch stencils on to the bricks and then sand-blasted through the stencil to engrave the names of Shrewsbury families.

"It is important to mark the milestones," Mayor Felicity Buckley said. "I just think it is an important date to memorialize."

To order a paver for your family, pick up an order form at Shrewsbury City Hall. Large (8"x8") pavers are $100, and small (8"x4") pavers are $50.
