Affton High School Holds Poetry 'Out Loud' Competition

Junior Logan Willis won the competition with a recitation of "Degrees of Gray in Philipsburg" by poet Cornelius Eady.

Twenty-seven students at Affton High School competed in the school’s Poetry Out Loud competition on Wednesday, Jan. 16.

Junior Logan Willis won the competition with a recitation of “Degrees of Gray in Philipsburg” by poet Cornelius Eady. Jessica Reed, a junior, placed second for her reading of “Women” by Louise Bogan, and Brooke Brust, a sophomore, placed third with a recitation of Lisel Mueller’s “The End of Science Fiction.” Willis will move on to compete in the Poetry Out Loud St. Louis regional competition, to be held in February.
