Affton Schools has a new Facebook page for the district to provide updates about school meetings and events. Just click the link and hit the "Like" button to add them to your Facebook newsfeed.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the page had 49 "likes."
Erica Chandler, a parent in the district who works in marketing, has volunteered to help out with the page, and will be assisting with the district's public relations in general.
Some individual Affton schools already have Facebook pages, some of them with several hundred fans.
Mesnier Primary School has the most popular page, with 226 fans.
Next is Rogers Middle School's page, with 184 fans.
Gotsch Intermediate School updates often with 149 "likes."
Affton High School does not have an official Facebook page.
Several Affton parent groups and school organizations are also getting the word out via Facebook. These include the Affton School Mother's Club, the Affton High Cougar News student broadcast and Affton Alumni.
Pages have also been set up to organize events for individual Affton class years, such as the Class of 2012, the Class of 2014 and the Class of 2016.
