AHS Junior Receives Foreign Language Award

Jessica Castellanos is currently studying French.

Affton High School junior Jessica Castellanos was honored with the Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Languages by the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Arts and Sciences on March 21, the Affton School District announced in a news release.

Castellanos is an Honors French III student.

“Jessica is a terrific French student. Her work is superior and very advanced for her high school level,” foreign language teacher Paula Gyllenborg said in the release. “I love the way her minds works. I can see her thinking en français and it is a wonderful process to watch.”

Castellanos was among 24 area high school juniors to receive the distinction, according to the release. Chosen by their respective high schools, students demonstrate outstanding achievement in academics and languages.
