Bayless Superintendent Announces 2012 Retirement
Maureen Clancy-May has been superintendent for 10 years.
Maureen Clancy-May, superintendent of schools for the , announced Wednesday that she will retire from the district at the end of the 2011-2012 school year.
“I am extremely grateful to all in the Bayless community for their help and support,” Clancy-May said in a press release. “We have made strides both in academic performance and the moral character of our students, and I am proud of these accomplishments.”
Clancy-May has been superintendent at Bayless for 10 years and has spent 35 years in public education.

Clancy-May's administration has also been involved in with the Bayless teacher's union, including a 2009 lawsuit which struck down the district's policy on collective bargaining.

She will continue to lead the district this coming year as the school board moves forward on plans for a to improve the district’s .
At a special meeting on Monday, the Bayless School Board hired Sheldon Smith as a consultant in its coming superintendent search. Smith is the former superintendent of the Hillsboro R-III School District in Hillsboro, MO, and now works as an associate professor of education and director of educational leadership programs at Missouri Baptist University.
Clancy-May is also the current president of the board of directors.
