Cor Jesu Students Earn AP Scholar Awards

Thirteen graduating seniors last year did well on the Advanced Placement exams.

Thirteen students from the class of 2011 qualified for the AP Scholar Awards including Claire Baumer, who received the National AP Scholar Award.

National AP Scholars earn an average grade of four out of five or better on all Advanced Placement Exams taken, and grades of 4 or better on eight or more of these exams. In addition, Baumer also qualified as an AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Both Elena Arrendondo and Mia Eppler qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

Ten Cor Jesu students qualified for the AP Scholar Awards: Margaret Brennan, Carolyn G’Sell, Elizabeth Johnston, Katherine Kreienkamp, Emily Kroll, Taylor Mayhall, Kathleen Shields, Elise Viox, Karla Weidner, Amy Zimmerman. These students qualified by completing three or more AP Exams with grades of 3 or higher.

Cor Jesu Academy offers 14 AP courses each year for juniors and seniors in all disciplines. Through more than 30 different college-level courses and exams, AP provides students with the opportunity to earn college credit or advanced placement. Each exam is developed by a committee of college and university faculty and AP teachers. More than 3,600 colleges and universities annually receive AP grades. More than 90 percent of four-year colleges in the United States provide credit and/or placement for qualifying exam grades.
