Filing for School Board Elections Opens

Affton, Bayless, and Lindbergh all have multiple seats up for grabs on April 3. Filing begins Dec. 14 and ends Jan. 17.

Those wishing to become members of the Affton, Bayless and Lindbergh school boards can now file their candidacy for the spring elections starting today.

The general municipal election will be April 3, and potential board members must declare their candidacies by Jan. 17.

Affton residents should go to the superintendent's office in the district at 8701 Mackenzie Rd. between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information call 314-638-8770.

Up for grabs are the three-year terms of Douglas Beck and Larry Knox, which will expire. The unexpired two-year term vacated by Michael Alexander’s resignation will also be open for candidates. The two-year term expires in April 2014.

Bayless School District will have two school board openings as Ed Tritschler and Jeff Robinson complete their terms.

After the filing begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Bayless candidates may apply between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the district's office at 4530 Weber Rd. For more information, call 314-256-8601.

Lindbergh School District will elect two school board members. Kenneth Fey and Mark Rudoff complete their terms in April.

Lindbergh filing will be between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the district office at 4900 S. Lindbergh Blvd. in South County. For information, call 314-729-2400.

The school district offices will be closed during their respective schools' winter breaks.

To qualify for the elections, candidates must be at least 24 years old, U.S. citizens, residents of their respective district and residents of Missouri for at least one year prior to the election. Prospective candidates need to submit a written statement of candidacy addressed to the secretary of their district's board of education.
