Got Spirit? Lindbergh Spirit Festival Next Week

Family-friendly Spirit Fest returns to Lindbergh bigger and better in its 21st year.

The Lindbergh Spirit Festival is returning May 19 with the promise and bigger and better rides for all ages.

This will be the 21st annual festival, which features food, rides, games and entertainment throughout the day. The event aims to bring together the Lindbergh community and is not a revenue builder for the Lindbergh School District.

The Spirit Festival parade, the day’s keynote event, kicks off at 9 a.m. at Sperreng Middle School and will march from Concord School Road to Roxanna Drive before ending at .

The parade’s grand marshal, Truman Middle School Principal Jennifer Tiller, will lead the Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band, poms and cheerleader squads, Mehlville Fire Department, Color Guards and many other floats. Tiller earned the honor by being named the Middle School Principal of the Year by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.

Opening ceremonies and a ribbon cutting will officially kick off the day’s festivities following the parade at 10 a.m. near the high school.

School officials have announced a new carnival company, Fun Time Shows, is promising to bring a larger assortment of rides for kids of all ages this year. The carnival will feature at least 15 rides.

Ride bracelets cost $23 in advance or $30 the day of the festival, and can be purchased at each school. The final chance to purchase ride bracelets will be from 3 to 6 p.m. May 18 at the auditorium of the Lindbergh High School.

Advance tickets to purchase food, play games and rides can be purchased in advanced for $7.50 per dozen. The day of the festival, tickets may be purchased for $.75 a piece.

Musical entertainment will be found at the main stage throughout the day, and feature a variety of Lindbergh high school and middle school musicians. At 7 p.m., professional rock cover band Yukon Jake from St. Louis takes the stage. Yukon Jake gained notoriety for performing in the movie “Up in the Air”  with George Clooney.

Also, MoCHIP (the Missouri Child Identification Program) will return and provide free CDs detailing a child’s digital photo and fingerprints, emergency contacts and dental bite impression.

Parking will be prohibited at the high school unless residents have a permit. Handicap parking will be available though.

Complimentary shuttle services will be available prior to the parade from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. leading from all elementary schools to Sperreng. Following the parade, shuttles will run from elementary and middle schools all day until 9:30 p.m
