Vic Lenz was named MSBA president at summit in Columbia, MO this weekend.

Lindbergh Schools Board of Education President Vic Lenz is the newest president of the Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA), a news release from the district states. Lenz became MSBA president at the conclusion of the 2011 MSBA Leadership Summit, held Friday and Saturday in Columbia, MO.

The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a private, not-for-profit group that exists to help public school boards organize and lobby. As MSBA president, Lenz will chair the statewide Education Round Table and Service Connection, serve on the Futurebuilders Foundation Board, work with MSBA’s 17 regional leadership committees and represent Missouri to the National School Boards’ Association.

“President Thomas Jefferson believed that an educated citizenry is the basis of our democracy,” Lenz said. “In order to have an educated citizenry we must have a strong system of public education, and every student must have access to a quality free public education. With the visioning project that is being developed as a guideline, MSBA is going to be enhancing its advocacy programs and asking for increased effort in shaping legislation that will strengthen Missouri’s public schools.”
