New Affton Teacher Q&A: Peter Bogart, Counselor

Grade/Position: Guidance Counselor, Mesnier Primary School    

Welcome to Affton! Tell us about your new job. What will you be doing?

I will be the new Guidance Counselor at Mesnier Primary. I look forward to working with students individually and proficing group counseling, and I’ll be working with the staff and parents as well.

Where did you come from? What background are you bringing to our schools?

I came from Kids In The Middle where I worked for the past 3 years in several different elementary schools in the St. Louis City School District. I also worked for SSD for 3 years prior. I am a Certified School Counselor K-12 and Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (PLPC), and will be fully licensed (LPC) in September 2012.

What are you most looking forward to this school year?

Working in the same building 5 days a week, which will allow me to really get to know our students and be available to assist them and their families. 

Tell us about your family. Who supports you?

I come from a family of educators and education-related fields. My parents live in St. Louis and I have 1 older sister who lives in Boston, MA. I have a loving, wonderful, supportive fiancé and we live together with our two pet dogs, Alfie  and Betty.
