New Bayless School Board Sworn In

Three new members and two returning members took these places on the school board on Monday night.

The Bayless Board of Education swore in five new and returning members Tuesday night, bringing its numbers back to a full seven.

There were five spots on the school board up for election this year, but with only five candidates filing, no election was needed.

Board President Jeff Preisack was sworn in for another three-year term, and incumbent Ed Tritschler was sworn in for a one-year term. Laura Van Zale, Tom Wood and Michelle Padgett joined the board for the first time. Van Zale and Wood have three-year terms; Padgett has a two-year term.

The board thanked and recognized its two resigning members, Mirela Celaj and Mike Hickey. Hickey has served on the board for 10 years.

Board member Robert Tenholder resigned from the board in November. As it was so late in the year, the board decided not to hold a special election to fill the spot. The swearing in of the three new board members brings the board back to a full seven.

Preisack was re-elected school board president. Tritschler was elected to replace Hickey as vice present.

Also new at the meeting was Bayless High junior Allison Myers, who replaced graduating senior Taylor Dunworth as student council president. The student president makes a report on student council activities at every school board meeting.
