Nominations Needed for Affton SOAR Awards

Do you know an Affton School District teacher, support staff or volunteer whose service should be recognized? Nominate them for a SOAR Award!

The Affton School District's 16th annual Service and Outstanding Achievement Recognition Program—better known as the SOAR awards—will be presented on April 11.

The district said they encourage any Affton or Special School District employee, or district residents over the age of 18, to submit a nomination in any of the three categories:

• Professional staff: includes teachers and administrators.
• Support staff: includes secretaries, maintenance personnel, custodians, cafeteria workers, bus drivers, aides.
• Volunteer or community member.

Nominees must be employed or contracted with the district, or volunteer on a regular basis serving the Affton schools. Nominees should have a record of exceptional performance or volunteer experience and demonstrate outstanding service and support to the school district.

The nomination process will end March 9. Nomination forms are available in the office of each Affton School District building or by calling 314-633-5905. The forms will also beavailable on the district website at www.affton.k12.mo.us.

The SOAR Awards Program will be held on April 11 at the Affton High School commons, 8309 Mackenzie Road. A light buffet will be served at 6:15 p.m., followed by the awards presentation at 7 p.m.

Nominees from each category will be recognized and the winners presented with SOAR award certificates. The district will also present the special Superintendent’s Award and name the Affton School District teacher of the year.
