Salem Lutheran Tumbles and Dances for Lutheran Schools Week

A book fair and an event for grandparents were also held.

in Affton recently celebrated National Lutheran Schools Week with several days of fun events for students and families.

The festivities included PE Night, where students took turns tumbling, line dancing and hula-hooping. The school also hosted a book fair and a special event for grandparents.

The theme of this year’s celebration was “Securing Each Child's Future-Equipped,” based on a Bible passage, 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

Salem Lutheran School is located at 5025 Lakewood Drive in Affton and is a member of the St. Louis-based Lutheran Elementary School Association (LESA).  
"National Lutheran Schools Week is a time set aside for parents, students, and teachers to intentionally look at the Lutheran school in which they are involved," said Deb Schmich, Director of LESA's Educational Resources Division. "It is a time of appreciation of the education, the relationships and the spirituality that happen in a Lutheran school."

More than 236,000 children attend 2,245 Lutheran schools and early childhood centers in the United States. Seven LESA schools rank among the largest Lutheran schools in the country.

National Lutheran Schools Week runs March 5 through 10.
 
A service organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, LESA represents 30 elementary schools, four high schools and four related agencies in St. Louis and southern Illinois.
