Vigil for Slain Affton High Student Tonight

Emily Dreiman was found dead with her family the day of graduation.

The newly graduated senior class is organizing a vigil Thursday night for Emily Dreiman, who was .

The candlelight vigil will take place at 9 p.m. in front of Affton High School. All students, staff and community members are invited to honor Dreiman and her family.

Girl Scout Troop 1433 is also involved in organizing the vigil. Dreiman was a Girl Scout Ambassador with Troop 1433. She volunteered as an aide at the Girl Scouts' Summer Nights Day Camp for several years. A blog post by Donna Martin, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri, stated one of Dreiman's goals was to work at Girl Scout camp—a dream she was going to achieve this summer.

Dreiman was found Friday morning, along with three family members, in her home at 5352 Vine Ave. in Affton. She had been set to graduate from Affton High School that evening.

Police said that while they were investigating the case as a homicide, they believed the violence resulted from a domestic situation in the home. They are not searching for an outside suspect.

At the graduation, a moment of silence was held for Dreiman, and the crowd applauded loudly when her name was called during the awarding of diplomas.

“She was a graduate, and I’m proud to say Emily Dreiman is, was and always will be a graduate of Affton,” said Affton High English teacher Brian Jennings, who spoke at the graduation.
