Affton, Bayless Ready For Volleyball Showdown

The neighborhood rivals are all set for a Thursday night matchup at Affton High School.

Two of South County’s up-and-coming volleyball programs will renew their emerging blood rivalry on Thursday night when the Bronchos visit for a matchup against the Cougars.

The two teams have already played two sensational matches this season. Bayless won two sets to none on Aug. 31, and Affton won the rematch a few days later on Sept. 2, setting up this week’s final regular-season meeting between the two this Thursday at 5 p.m.

Bayless has been on a brilliant run the past two weeks, winning five of its six matches since that loss to Affton, including a thrilling 25-22, 19-25, 25-17 home win over Maplewood-Richmond Heights on Tuesday.

Junior hitters Brittany Walker and Brittney Dunworth had nine kills and seven kills, respectively, while junior setter Erica Dennison had 12 assists to lead the Bronchos (7-4) to an exciting win over a fired up MRH squad.

Affton has also been playing well lately, winning two of its past three matches, including its own Tuesday night three-set thriller at home against Principia.
