Affton Girls' Swimmers Set New School Record

Congratulations to Katie McAlister, Anna Pyne, Lydia McCurren and Madeline Mullins!

The Affton High School girls 200 Freestyle Relay team broke the school record on Feb. 6 by 1.4 seconds with a time of 2:04.60, according to a news release from the school district.

Swimming at the conference meet at Ladue Horton Watkins High School were Katie McAlister (sophomore), Anna Pyne (sophomore), Lydia McCurren (senior), and Madeline Mullins (senior). The previous school record, set in 2008, was 2:06.00.

“Going into the meet, the girls were 17 hundredths of a second away from breaking the record, so we had high hopes,” said Jane Bohn, who coaches the Affton High School girls swim team along with Paul Hoggatt. “Breaking the record required each swimmer to give their best performance of the year. It’s a huge accomplishment and we are so proud of them! They made it their goal to break the record and their hard work paid off last night.”
