Bayless Haitian-American Student Organized Haiti Relief Fundraiser

Bayless High School student Luella Loseille was recently announced as one of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s 2013 Scholar-Athletes. She is captain of the Bayless Dance Explosion and a 2012 National Dance Association's All-American Dancer, according to her profile on Post-Dispatch.

But Loseille also participates in a number of school and civic activites.

“I was the head and orchestrator of the Haiti Relief Fundraiser in Student Council, which raised over $700 to send to the Red Cross to help with the Haiti Relief after Haiti was struck by the devastating earthquake back in January 2010,” she said in the profile. “I am a proud Haitian-American, with both parents having come from Haiti."

This year's 150 scholar-athletes were honored May 15 prior to the Cardinals-Mets game at Busch Stadium, according to Post-Dispatch.
