JB Blast Fourth of July Fireworks Still On (Update: Now Postponed)

Other cities may be canceling their Fourth of July fireworks celebrations due to the hot, dry weather, but so far, is still on.
"There are no plans to cancel JB Blast," said St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger. "It's going to be really dry, but I think we are going to be OK."

Stenger will be singing the national anthem at the event, which draws as many as 20,000 people each year.
Stenger addressed residents' cancellation fears at an Affton Chamber of Commerce event today, adding that the annual fireworks show draws people from around the St. Louis area.

The chamber's executive director Joan Edleson agreed with Stenger that the show will probably not be cancelled.
"It's over the Mississippi (River,)" she said. "I think we're all-right."
