Lindbergh Whiz Kids Achieve and Amaze

Lindbergh students are busy helping their neighbors, other students, and teachers.

It may be summertime, but Lindbergh School District students are keeping busy. 

Spanish Students Score Top in Region on Exam

Lindbergh High School juniors Marissa Kowalski and Ananya Benegal recently scored first and third in the St. Louis region, respectively, on the National Spanish Exam. For their achievements, Marissa received a $1,000 prize and Ananya was awarded $250.

Crestwood Collects Books for Families in Need

One of the many projects the Crestwood Elementary School Service Club completed this year was a book drive for Habitat for Humanity. Students bought more than $200 worth of new books from the Crestwood Book Fair using the “loose change” that people deposited in a jar after purchasing books from the fair. All of these new books, as well as over 250 new and gently used books, were donated to the families served by Habitat for Humanity.

LHS Students Chosen for National Technical Honor Society

Several Lindbergh High School students have been selected for membership into the National Technical Honor Society. NTHS is the highest award for excellence in career and technical education. Students are selected who have shown exemplary levels of scholarship, attendance, and behavior, and have outstanding teacher nominations. This year’s inductees include Kelly Werkmeister, Paul Kurzhals, Micah Oaks, Nicholas O'Hanlon, Alex Spillars, Blake Koppel, Andrea Melo, Marshay Davis, and Adrian Lomax.

Kennerly Kids Fight Cancer With Creativity

Kennerly Elementary School third-grader Anna Anderson has come up with a unique way to help her neighbor, a child who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Anna has made various items with colored Duct tape and sold them to classmates, raising $112 so far. Her sister Abby, and fifth-grade friends Chloe Patrick and Jessica Baan, have helped Anna market the items, take orders and deliver products to their customers. When asked why they were doing this, the girls responded that “It feels really good to help!”

Concord Students Excel at Science Fair

Several Concord Elementary School students came home with ribbons honoring their project submissions in the Academy of Science-St. Louis Science Fair. The fair was sponsored by Monsanto Fund and MEMC Electronic Materials. Concord’s honorees included 27 blue ribbon winners, 10 red ribbon winners, four green ribbon winners and one white ribbon winner.

Students Clean Up Big Muddy

Lindbergh High School juniors and seniors in Jim Denner’s Human Anatomy and Astronomy classes joined up and braved the rain to help clean up trash along the Missouri River in St. Charles. Twenty-three students showed up to help the Missouri River Relief Organization at the Lewis and Clark Boathouse. According to Steve Schnarr of the Missouri River Relief Organization, the day “was a damp but totally effective clean-up.”

Middle School Choir Ranks High at Festival

“Synchronicity,” Lindbergh’s middle school show choir, received a “1” rating and took first place in the Music in the Parks Festival in May. The eighth-grade singers and dancers from Truman and Sperreng middle schools rehearsed Tuesdays, Thursdays and many Saturdays in order to prepare for the competition.

Flyer Time Raises Funds to Fight Cancer

Lisa Slyman’s Flyer Time Class at Sperreng Middle School recently raised $401.15 during spirit week to honor science teacher Sarah Sumner. The class donated their funds to the Siteman Cancer Center on Butler Hill Road.
