County Councilman: Thrift Store Not "Good Fit" for Affton

Steve Stenger opposes the relocation of a Value Village thrift store from Shrewsbury to the former Hanneke Hardware, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger, who opposes the relocation of a thrift store from Shrewsbury to Affton, says he wants what's best for his hometown, according to a recent St. Louis Post-Dispatch article. The owner of the Value Village thrift store in Kenrick Plaza is trying to have the store moved to the former Hanneke Hardware, 10042 Gravois Rd., Post-Dispatch reports. (The Shrewsbury Board of Aldermen  recently approved a Walmart Supercenter in Kenrick Plaza.) "Affton is poised to join other inner-ring suburbs like Brentwood, Maplewood and Richmond Heights...,” he told St. Louis Post-Dispatch, adding he doesn't feel the resale shop is a "good fit for the area."
