Affton Police Blotter: Not Much But Bank Robberies

The following information was supplied by the Affton Precinct of the St. Louis County Police Department. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Friday, Feb. 3 A gray 2012 Volkswagen Jetta and a black 2012 Volkswagen Golf were reported stolen from Suntrup auto dealer, 6000 Lindbergh Boulevard. Regions Bank, 9100 Gravois Road in Affton, was robbed by a man in a tan coat who demanded cash. On Feb. 13 county police issued charges to a St. Louis City man for the robbery. Electronics were reported stolen in a burglary in the 8500 block of Mathilda Avenue in Affton. Sunday, Feb. 5 A black 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle was reported stolen in the 9800 block of Lakeford Lane in Affton. Tuesday, Feb. 7 Jewelry was reported stolen in the 5100 block of Windleigh Place in South County. A case of theft and forgery was reported in the 10200 block of Highbury Lane in Affton involving checks, …

St. Louis Man Charged in Regions Bank Robbery

Is this man the "Same-Coat Bandit"?

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Nicholas J. Hummel, 29, of the 5700 block of Loran in St. Louis City, with robbing Affton's Regions Bank, 9100 Gravois Rd, earlier this month. Hummel is charged with two counts of Robbery in the 2nd Degree and is currently being held on a $50,000 cash only bond. Two warrants were issued because two tellers were robbed. Last week BanditTrackerStLouis.com dubbed the Regions robber "the Same-Coat Bandit" and linked him to three other area bank robberies, including Wednesday's robbery at Reliance Bank, 8083 Watson Rd. 'Same Coat Bandit' Sought in Reliance, Regions Bank Robberies

The suspect, a white man in his early 20s who wears a tan coat, may be responsible for two other robberies.

A man who authorities have dubbed as the "Same-Coat Bandit" may be responsible for both Wednesday's robbery at Reliance Bank, 8083 Watson Rd., and Friday's robbery of Regions Bank, 9100 Gravois Rd. The suspect is a white man in his 20s who wears a tan, hooded jacket. St. Louis County police through they had him cornered after the Regions robbery, but he slipped away. A few days later the same man apparently robbed the Reliance branch around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. He did not display a weapon in either bank robbery. Police Investigating Afternoon Robbery at Reliance Bank

The suspect, a thin white man in his early 20s, robbed the Webster Grove's bank, fled south on Watson Road and entered a late model red Camaro.

Webster Groves police are investigating a first-degree robbery that took place around 12:30 p.m. at Reliance Bank at 8083 Watson Road. The suspect is described as thin white man in his early 20s. He was wearing a Carhart-style tan jacket with a black or dark colored hooded sweatshirt and a black scarf and gray pants. The suspect entered the bank, jumped over the teller’s counter and demanded money from the drive-through teller’s drawer, police said. He did not display a weapon or a note. The man then fled on foot with an unknown amount of cash south across Watson Road, police said. Witnesses stated he entered a late model red Cheverolet Camaro. Anyone with information should call the Webster Groves Police Department at 314-645-3000.

South County Bank Robberies a Weekly Worry

There has been at least one bank robbery in South County every week for the last month.

Does it seem like you are reading on Patch about bank robberies in the area every week? Well, turns out you are. We counted. South county has had at least one bank robbery every week for the last month. Here's the list, going back week by week. On Friday a man made off with cash from Regions Bank, 9100 Gravois in Affton, after implying he had a weapon. Police thought they had him surrounded at the nearby Gardenville Masonic Temple, but in the end did not capture the culprit. On Jan. 24 a wannabe bank robber was detained by a security guard at Southern Commercial Bank, 6969 South Lindbergh Boulevard. Man Suspected in Southern Commercial Bank Robbery Charged

Brian Schappe was arrested after police say he demanded money in the bank on Tuesday.

The man arrested Tuesday in connection with the robbery of the Southern Commercial Bank on Lindbergh has been formally charged, St. Louis County police announced today. Brian J. Schappe, 27, of Florissant, was charged Wednesday with robbery in the first degree and is being held on a $50,000 bond. Police say Schappe entered the bank at 6969 Lindbergh Boulevard and demanded money, but was detained by the bank's security officer. No one was injured. Police said the bank employed a security guard after it was robbed multiple times.

Took his laptop, and took 50 dollars combined from my kids piggy banks which happened to be locked in my bedroom. Brian picked the lock on my bedroom door and broke in and stole everything mentioned. Friday, Jan. 13 A burglary was reported in the 4200 block of Bayless Avenue in Affton, but nothing was reported stolen. A burglary was reported in the 4900 block of Towne South Road in Concord, but nothing was reported stolen. Prescription medicine was reported stolen in the 8500 block of Stafford Court in Affton. A red 2001 Jeep Cherokee was taken without its owner’s consent in the 5100 block of Olde Silver Place in Concord. Saturday, Jan. 14 Cash was reported stolen in a burglary in the 10200 block of Marble Arch Lane in Affton. Electronics were reported stolen in a burglary in the 12800 block of Tesson Ferry Road in Concord. Southfield Center Jefferson Bank Robbed

The suspected showed no weapon and no one was injured.

St. Louis County police are searching for a suspected bank robber who demanded money at the Jefferson Bank at 5475 Southfield Center, near Ronnie's Cinema. At 11:20 a.m. county police officers from the Affton-Southwest Precinct responded to the call of a bank robbery. According to police a man had entered the bank and demanded money. The subject then fled on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. No one was injured. No weapon was displayed. St. Louis County police detectives from the Bureau of Crimes Against Persons responded to conduct the investigation.  The suspect is described as a white man in his late 20’s to mid-30’s,   approximately 6 feet tall, 180 pounds with brown hair. Two Charged in Mackenzie Bank Robbery

Detectives tracked the suspects down to a home in St. Louis City and recovered some of the stolen cash.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged two men for Friday's armed robbery of the Citizen's National Bank in Affton. Javion D. Marshall, 18, of the 3100 block of Texas Avenue in St. Louis and Shannon C. Bolden, 26, from Decatur, GA, were each charged with Robbery in the First Degree and Armed Criminal Action. Both men are currently being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond. Updated: Police Say Dye Pack Blew in Bank Robber's Car

Police are looking for a suspect who fled Citizen's National Bank in a sedan with Georgia plates.

St. Louis County police responded at approximately 9:55 a.m., to a call of a bank robbery at the Citizen’s National Bank located at 9111 MacKenzie Road in Affton. A man entered the bank, displayed a black handgun and demanded money, Sergeant James McWilliams said in a press release. The suspect fled the bank on foot with an undetermined amount of currency, then he got into a white four-door sedan with Georgia state license plates. No one was injured.  Police described the suspect as a black male, about 6 feet tall of slender build, weighing between 170 to 190 lbs.
