New Bike Trail to Connect Jefferson Barracks to St. Louis Arch

The proposal will create off-road trails for bikers.

Fred Andres bikes between 70 and 100 miles a week, but said he's limited to traveling north from the St. Louis Arch. Wednesday, he came to a public meeting to learn about an off-road bike path that would connect the Arch to River Des Peres with the bike trails being built from River City Casino to Jefferson Barracks Park.  "I'm blown away," he said. "It's absolutely great, now I can go both ways—north and south." Andres sometimes bikes around the existing path at River City Casino and is looking forward to the new trail that will attach to Jefferson Barracks. Bike to Carondelet Park? Proposed Trail Connects to River des Peres

The Carondelet Connector trail would run along I-55 to the River des Peres Greenway.

Cyclists and trail enthusiasts in Affton may get add St. Louis City’s Carondelet Park to their itinerary. The Great Rivers Greenway is planning to add a 0.75-mile trail to connect the River des Peres Greenway and trail to Carondelet Park in South St. Louis city. The proposed route would run from Germania Street north along Interstate 55 to the park and will include an underpass at Loughborough Avenue. The River des Peres Greenway currently stretches from Landsdowne Avenue to I-55 along the River des Peres. The greenway also has a one-mile neighborhood connector, the Christy Greenway, which extends north from Germania to Holly Hills Boulevard. Wonderful idea! I ride to Carondelet Park every week, sometimes 2 or 3 times a week. We need to keep adding bike paths to encourage people to get out and ride.   more ›
