The St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame legend died Saturday at the age of 92.
A public visitation for Stan Musial, the St. Louis Cardinals legend who died at his Ladue home Saturday at the age of 92, will be held Thursday at Cathedral Basillica, MLB.com reported Monday. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at the same location Saturday starting at 11 a.m. KMOX reports that Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, the Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of St. Louis, and Bishop Richard Stika will officiate the mass. A procession will then lead to Busch Stadium for a ceremony at the Musial Statue. The Shane Co. has been the jeweler to the St. Louis Cardinals for 13 years.
The Shane Co. jewelry store, in Brentwood now, and moving to Olivette in early 2013, has been the official jeweler to the St. Louis Cardinals for 13 years. The store has been in St. Louis for 15 years. Rordan Shane said in spite of Shane Co.’s relationship with the St. Louis Cardinals, he's not a Cardinals fan. “I would be lying if I didn’t say that being a Colorado boy, the Rockies are my hometown team,” he said. “That being said, I went to several Cards games last year, and several the year prior. St. Louis County Police Officer Kathy Kelly, DARE Officer of the Year, brought the World Series Trophy to Gotsch Intermediate School students.
It's not often an inanimate object tours Affton schools as a special guest, but for Gotsch Intermediate School students, the 2011 World Series trophy was a special sight. DARE officer of the year and St. Louis County Police Officer Kathy Kelly brought the trophy to Gotsch. Click through the photos above to see more. Hundreds of thousands of fans lined Market Street for the parade to Busch Stadium.
With St. Louis still reeling after Friday's World Series Cardinals victory, four area bands were invited to play at the victory parade Sunday. Lindbergh, Pattonville, Seckman and Belleville East brought their best marching chops to the event. The Spirit of St. Louis band also entertained at the Rams game before the parade. The St. Louis Cardinals beat Texas Rangers 6-2 Friday in Game 7 of the World Series to become 2011 champs for the 11th time. The Cardinals Victory Parade starts 4pm at 18th St. and Market in downtown St. Louis, moving down Market Street to 7th St. South to Stan Musial Drive to Busch Stadium. In four trucks will be Cardinals players, Fredbird, Team Fredbird, Rally Squirrel and the marching bands of Lindbergh, Pattonville, Seckman and Belleville high schools. There is also a celebration 2pm Sunday sponsored by Budweiser at the stadium with $5 tickets going on sale 2pm Saturday. Two tickets per sale.
