School dubbed a "National School of Character," an honor handed out this year to only 43 education institutions nationwide.
Bayless Elementary School marked a milestone achievement yesterday, celebrating its ranking as a “National School of Character” by the Character Education Partnership. The honor was awarded by the D.C.-based group to only 43 schools across the nation this year, 16 of which were from the St. Louis area. Bayless students and staff marked the accomplishment Tuesday afternoon with an assembly that was also attended by Missouri lawmakers and education professionals. If selected as one of the 25 National Schools of Character, the school will be honored in October at a forum in San Francisco and on the organization’s website. “I think our chances are great,” said Dr. Gina Siebe, principal of Bayless Elementary. “We have a great application, and we have great kids to demonstrate our character traits.
