Hey, Bayless! Did You Lose a Chicken?

Neighbors in Bayless found a red chicken and are looking for the owner. Did you lose your chicken?

Looks like this chicken flew the coop! Neighbors found a red chicken—which they described as either a Rhode Island Red or Red Sex Link—wandering in Bayless Tuesday near the corner of Hildesheim Ave. and Seibert Ave. Jenna Brown posted the Craigslist ad, including a photo, on Affton-Shrewsbury Patch's Facebook page Wednesday, saying she is still looking for the owner. Do your neighbors keep chickens? Can we help this little hen get home?

Poor thing! This reminds me of an incident a few years ago. I picked up my grand daughter at Bayless middle school and on our way home we noticed a beautiful red rooster at the very same intersection of Hildeshiem and Siebert. I pulled over and my grand daughter got out and chased it down and caught it and we took it to the Humane Society on Macklind and they sent it to Longmeadow Rescue ranch . …   more ›

Fried Chicken Breasts at Walmart Being Recalled

Chicken fried chicken breasts distributed to Walmart stores may contain foreign materials, including metal.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Advance Pierre Foods in Oklahoma is recalling approximately 1,200 pounds of chicken fried chicken breasts. The USDA reports the food may contain small pieces of metal after a metal tool fell into a meat grinder. Walmart has also posted the recall information on its corporate website. According to the USDA, the meat was distributed to a number of states, including Missouri. The following products are included in the recall:  More details and the "best by" date can be found here.
