Georgia Family Wins Patch's Deck the House Contest

The Felix family from Dallas, GA received thousands of votes to win Patch's Deck the House contest and $100,000 for their local school district.

The Dolans were not the only 2011 finalists in Patch's Deck the House contest looking to take home the grand prize in 2012.  After placing second in the nationwide voting in the 2011 contest, Joseph Felix's home in Dallas, GA received nearly 11,000 votes this year to finally win Deck the House. The Felix home outshined the other 24 finalists to win $100,000 for the Paulding County, GA school district. The home, with 100,000 computer animated holiday lights choreographed to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You," received about 300 more votes than a home in Coventry, R.I., which finished in second place. St. Louis residents also rallied hard for the Dolans, who took out a second electricity service so they could run the singing …

Letter from Lindsay: Help Me Bring $100K to Affton School District

Help us show Patch readers everywhere how Affton comes together to support our neighbors and help the Dolan family win our Deck the House Contest.

Dear Affton-Shrewsbury Patch, Sorry to bother you over the holiday, but I have a pressing town matter to discuss. Have you met the Dolans? They're the family who covers their beautiful home in so many dazzling holiday lights that they had to take out a second electricity service so they could run the singing Santa and the washing machine at the same time. This year, they're also finalists in Patch's Deck the House contest. That means they are competing against 24 other homes across the country to earn $100,000 for our school district.  Let's be serious. That's a lot of money. While we're at it, have you heard some of the great stories coming out of the Affton School District?  Players from the St. Louis Rams came to learn a dance from …

With $100,000 on the line, Affton is doing all it can to help the Dolan family win Patch's Deck the House holiday lights contest . "I just have never wanted anything to happen so badly as this," Densie Dolan said. "Well, OK, maybe a winning lottery ticket or two. Then I could just donate the money, right?" Have you voted today? If the Dolans win, Patch will donate the grand prize to the Affton School District, where all three of the Dolans' daughters have gone to school. The school district is promoting the contest to parents and staff, hoping to drive enough momentum to get as many votes per day as possible. This Affton house is the only St. Louis area finalist in Patch’s national Deck the House contest! Vote now to help them win $100,000 for schools.

Could this be the best “decked” house in the country?  Possibly. Congrats to Patrick and Denise Dolan for being chosen as one of the 24 finalists in our Deck the House contest! The Dolan’s Christmas decorations are so elaborate that Patrick Dolan finally bought a second electric service so they could run the washing machine and microwave at the same time as the nativity scene and the singing Santa. Patrick added 5,000 lights this year, drawing a total of more than 100 amps of power. Denise posts on Facebook constantly and has reached out to all her social networks, asking friends to vote for what Affton has come to call “the house with all the lights.” For more: We had tons of national entries in this year’s Deck the House contest and in …
