Snow: Yes, They Really Mean It; Up to 11 Inches
We've been hoping forecasters would back off that prediction for a large spring snowfall, but they haven't.
Our hopes for a change of heart among weather forecasters have been dashed. The National Weather Service and local meteorologists are still calling for a massive winter storm to sweep over the St. Louis metro area overnight tonight. Glenn Zimmerman, meteorologist for Patch news partner FOX2, says rain should start tonight in the area at about 9 or 10 p.m., changing into snow sometime Sunday morning. He said the heaviest bursts of snowfall may be from around noon to 2 p.m. That forecast differs only slight from the storm alert from the National Weather Service: Rain will overspread the area Saturday evening. Blind Sixth Grader Inspires School Braille Party

Blind Sperreng Middle School student Alexis "Ali" Kricho was the leader of a special braille literacy event after school on Thursday. The Special School District student and one of her teachers, Cathy Kendall, suggested to librarian Amy Sears that they have some type of braille event at the school. Sears organized the after-school activity, attended by approximately 50 students, to coincide with National Braille Literacy Month--and inventor Louis Braille's birthday. Kricho made a presentation on braille, then showed other students how to operate braille machines. They capped off the afternoon by decorating chocolate cupcakes with braille lettering. Fox 2 Meteorologist Unveils Weather Station at Concord Elementary
Glenn Zimmerman visited the Lindbergh elementary school on Oct. 3.
Special guest Fox 2 meteorologist Glenn Zimmerman helped unveil a new weather station at Concord Elementary School Oct. 3, which students will use for buddy activities throughout the year. During the presentation, Zimmerman, who graduated from Lindbergh High school in 1982, shared with students how he became a meteorologist and explained how to use the new weather station. He also answered several weather-related questions. The Concord Weather Station was funded by a $300 Lindbergh Schools Foundation teacher grant and built by the PEGS (Program for Exceptionally Gifted Students) students at Concord Elementary School in May 2012. The verdict: A split decision in St. Charles; Romney the winner in Des Peres. Rep. Todd Akin On Hot Seat Over 'Legitimate Rape' Comment in FOX2 Interview
In the interview with Charles Jaco, the Senate candidate said "legitimate rape" would not cause pregnancy. Late Sunday night, the Romney-Ryan campaign weighed in.
Comments by U.S. Rep. Todd Akin suggesting that "legitimate rape" would not cause a woman to get pregant have raced like wildfire around the Internet and put the U.S. Senate candidate on his heels. Akin, the Wildwood Republican, is running for the Senate against incumbent Claire McCaskill. In an interview with Patch news partner FOX2 that aired on Sunday with Charles Jaco, Akin was explaining his position against abortion even in cases of rape. "First of all, from what I understand from doctors, (pregnancy) is really rare” in rape cases, Akin told Jaco. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down." Should Rush Limbaugh Be in the Hall of Famous Missourians?
Rush Limbaugh was inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians this week. An honor well deserved? Or a mistake on the part of Missouri lawmakers?
Rush Limbaugh, the controversial conservative commentator, was enshrined into the Hall of Famous Missourians this week, sparking controversy across the state and country on whether Limbaugh should be worth of such an honor. Limbaugh's name now sits amongst such famous Missourians as Mark Twain, Dred Scott, Jack Buck and Stan Musial. According to the St. Louis Beacon, Missouri House Speaker Steve Tilley gave reporters less than a half-hour’s notice of the ceremony.
