Illegal Possession of Fireworks Can Result in Fines of $1,000

An accident-free Fourth of July holiday period for residents and visitors is the goal of a special holiday enforcement program of the St. Louis County Police.

Fireworks violations will be the primary focus of St. Louis County Police patrol officers, including those in the Affton precinct, because of the preventable injuries that result every year from the illegal use of explosive devices. Summonses will be issued to anyone in possession of, using or selling fireworks in St. Louis County, according to an announcement from the department. County Police also will check motorists to reduce the number of drunk drivers on streets and highways. The term “fireworks” in the St. Louis County ordinance covers all combustible or explosives, including sparklers and magic snakes. Fines for the violations range from $50 to $1,000. Officers responding to the sights and sounds of fireworks discharges will seize …

Is October Too Late for the JB Blast?

The JB Blast is being rescheduled, possibly for as late as October.

The JB Blast celebration and fireworks show might not happen until October. The annual Fourth of July event was postponed Friday when the Lemay Fire Protection District—like districts around St. Louis—denied the event a fireworks permit due to extreme heat. St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger said he heard whispers of delaying the event until October, when residents won't have to worry about 100+ degree heat waves. "I think all are thinking the weather will be better, and since we missed the fourth, it can be a little later," Stenger said. "Maybe it will be October-blast?" Would you go to a Fourth of July event in October? Or should we schedule it sometime in Juy? What do you want?

JB Blast Postponed; Fireworks Permit Denied

The JB Blast Fourth of July fireworks has been postponed due to weather. The new date has not been determined.

The JB Blast Fourth of July celebration has been postponed, possibly until October. Like cities around the St. Louis region, the Lemay Fire Protection District will not issue a permit for fireworks due to the hot, dry weather conditions. That means the JB Blast won't be able to have fireworks. Extremely dry ground cover, lack of rain, low humidty and high temperatures all contributed to Lemay Fire Protection District's decision, said acting duty officer Norm Glover. St. Louis County Councilman Steve Stenger said the event might be postponed until as late as October when "weather will be better." The fire district's decision came in after Patch ran a story saying the fireworks were still on. Does this change your Fourth of July plans? Let …
