Patch Editors Volunteer at St. Louis Crisis Nursery

Find out how you can help the nursery, or send your own ideas of places for Patchers to volunteer.

Patch editors in the St. Louis area cleaned, organized, sorted, wiped, hugged and played at the St. Charles location for the St. Louis Crisis Nursery. The Crisis Nursery's mission is to prevent child abuse by providing temporary housing and care for young children in order to give their parents and caretakers the space and time needed to resolve crisis.  Patch editors organized and sanitized toys, cleaned high chairs and walls, put away summer clothes, put babies to sleep and played with the little ones. Patch Volunteers Today at St. Louis Crisis Nursery

We'll be in St. Charles all day Thursday with the St. Louis Crisis Nursery working with children and helping with household chores.

You can't truly serve a community unless you provide the help it needs most, which is why giving back is so important to us here at Patch. We volunteer as part of our coverage with a program called "Give 5," through which we donate advertising space to charitable organizations and contribute our own time as volunteers. Today, ten of our intrepid reporters and editors will volunteer their time at the St. Louis Crisis Nursery in St. Charles. We'll hold and change babies, toss the ball around with the bigger kids and help the social workers on staff to manage their daily chores. The Crisis Nursery houses, feeds, clothes and cares for children whose parents or guardians are temporarily unable to do so. They are coming from crisis, and the …

Patch Editors Run a St. Louis Cardinals Food Concession for Charity Fundraising

We've got the evidence of a sweaty outing at Thursday's Cardinals-Dodgers game—all to raise money for HavenHouse.

We wanted to share a few pictures of your Friendly Neighborhood Patchers at concession stand No. 150 —behind home plate!— at Thursday's St. Louis Cardinals game against the Dodgers (Cards won 7-4). Patch editors from around the St. Louis area were slinging hotdogs, beer and nachos supremes during Thursday's day game. The volunteer effort was the culmination of our Give 5 Day Fundraiser. Regular Patch users may remember the details: We agreed to work a concession stand and donate the charity proceeds to a local nonprofit. We invited users to enter a contest: Sign up for a Patch email newsletter and be entered into a drawing to win proceeds for the non-profit of your choice. Elissa Plastino of Creve Coeur won and directed our donation to …

HavenHouse Wins Funding Via Patch's Volunteer Efforts

Patch staff will work a concession at Thursday's St. Louis Cardinals game against the L.A. Dodgers, to raise money for charity. Elissa Plastino won our contest to donate the proceeds to her charity of choice. Congrats!

Elissa Plastino, who works in brand marketing for the corporate office of Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. in Creve Coeur, won Patch's Busch Stadium fundraiser contest. But the real winner will be HavenHouse in Creve Coeur, Plastino's choice for where our fundraising dollars go. HavenHouse provides "the comfort of home and a community of support for families traveling to St. Louis" for medical care. Here's what's happening: A group of Patch editors will work a concession stand at Thursday's St. Louis Cardinals game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. We intended to donate a portion of our proceeds (estimated between $1,500 and $2,500) to a local charity. So we had a contest that ended last week: Readers who signed up for a Patch newsletter were …
