An Affton man faces criminal charges after police said he choked his girlfriend last January. Anthony Ryan Jr., 30, of the 4000 block of Green Meadows in the Affton area, was charged Tuesday with second-degree domestic assault. St. Louis County Police said Ryan injured a woman who was his girlfriend at the time by choking her Jan. 12 at his home. Bond was set at $10,000. A South County man faces criminal charges for hitting and injuring a child who was 5 years old at the time. Travis Henson, 24, of the 7800 block of Clevedon Street in unincorporated South County, was charged with child abuse, a class C felony. Henson was formally charged Aug. 1 and was arrested Aug. 16. St. Louis County prosecutors said Henson “inflicted cruel and unusual punishment” on the child between April 24 and April 26 by hitting and injuring the child.
