In a game of teams and coaches that know each other well, this one went to the Flyers.
Lindbergh senior Mik Ebert didn’t have a break the entire game against Fox. Flyers coach Jason Wolfard picked Ebert as one guy that made a difference in Lindbergh’s first-round districts win over Fox. “He made some big plays, some steals, and1s, things like that,” Wolfard said. “At points that I thought we could have lost the lead a little bit, he came up with the big play or the big steal.” The point spread was hardly over five the entire game, and in the end, down to two. Eureka makes eight 3-pointers and wins at Lindbergh, 51-38. The Flyers have struggled in recent weeks.
Lindbergh coach Jason Wolfard warned his players that Eureka was a good 3-point shooting team. On Tuesday night, his Flyers found out for themselves. Eureka hit eight 3-pointers and held off a late Lindbergh run to down the Flyers, 51-38, in front a small crowd at Lindbergh High School on Tuesday. It was Lindbergh's fourth loss in five games. Lindbergh won, 63-57, at Lutheran South on Wednesday to go to 9-9, but on Tuesday the Flyers went 0-for-10 from behind the arc, getting outscored 24-0 on 3-pointers. Kirkwood plays good defense late in the game, and withstands the Flyers' final flurry to win, 54-53.
In a back-and-forth, tight game the Kirkwood Pioneers boys basketball team hung on for a 54-53 win over the Lindbergh Flyers on Friday night. Down by one point in the final seconds, Lindbergh senior guard Will Spitzfaden stole Kirkwood’s inbound pass, but missed an inside shot, and then junior guard Joe Killian’s follow-up shot also missed as time expired. “The guys kept fighting,” Lindbergh coach Jason Wolford said. “Gave themselves a chance to win it.” Kirkwood’s big road win puts them at 9-9 overall, and Lindbergh falls to 7-8. “We got the steal and it looked like we were going to pull it off,” Lindbergh senior center Jared Haenni said, “We did our best, and they played some good D at the end.” Kirkwood came up with big defensive plays …

Vianney and Lindbergh renew their intense rivalry on Friday night, and Vianney hangs on to win, 78-67.
Don’t try telling Vianney and Lindbergh that the district tournament is still one month away. The rivals had another back-and-forth battle on Friday night as Vianney overcame a late Lindbergh run and held off the Flyers for a 78-67 win in front of a packed and energetic crowd at Lindbergh High School in what could be a preview of next month's district final. Trailing by as many as 15 points in the third quarter, Lindbergh (5-5) cut the deficit to three at 67-64 with 1:15 to play. The 15th-seeded Flyers pushed No. 2 seed CBC, but lost 67-54 at the Meramec Holiday Festival Tournament.
Had seeding for the Meramec Holiday Festival Tournament not been done the first week of the season, the Lindbergh Flyers would have been much higher than the No. 15 seed in the 16-team tournament. They showed why on Tuesday night. Entering the tournament with just one loss on the season, the Flyers led the No. 2-seed CBC Cadets by five points at halftime, and gave them a scare for much of the night before fading in the second half and losing 67-54 at Meramec. Lindbergh (5-2) made a valiant attempt to be the first No. 15 seed to beat a No. 2 seed in the tournament's 33-year history, but couldn't overcome 25 points each from CBC's Darion Rackley and Seth Jackson. The Flyers had very strong first half and rolled to their fourth-straight win, 59-34 over Parkway Central on Tuesday night.
With his team leading 29-15 at halftime, Lindbergh boys basketball coach Jason Wolfard went into the locker room unsure what criticism to offer his team. He couldn't get mad at the shooting after they went 6-for-7 from behind the 3-point line. He couldn't be upset with how they took care of the ball after they committed just six turnovers. And he surely couldn't find fault with a stifling defense that allowed Parkway Central just two points in the second quarter.
