The Affton Fire Protection District held a special ceremony Friday night to promote six firefighters and initiate the firehouse's two new ambulances into service. Six firefighters were sworn-in to new roles at the district: The fire protection district also started a new tradition to officially begin the service of the two new ambulances, which the district bought after a long campaign for a tax increase last year. Three teams of firefighters worked together to push the ambulances—Ambulance #1117, which will stay at the Gravois firehouse, and Ambulance 1137, which will stay at Firehouse 3—into the docking bay.
