Stolen Library Card Used to Pilfer Items From South County Libraries

St. Louis County Police said John Kannady and Kavon Porshahidy checked out and sold video games and other items from St. Louis County Library's Weber Road and Cliff Cave branches.

Two men used a stolen library card to check out items from two South County libraries and sell them. Kavon Porshahidy, 31, of the 8500 block of Mathilda Avenue in Affton, and John Kannady, 24, of the 2300 block of Timberview in Kirkwood, were charged May 9 with felony theft. St. Louis County Police said that between Aug. 14 and Jan. 26, Porshahidy and Kannady used a stolen St. Louis County Library card to check out video games, CDs and movies. They checked out the items from the Weber Road and Cliff Cave branches in South County and then sold them, police said. Porshahidy and Kannady sold the items to support their heroin habits, according to a court document. Bond was set at $10,000 for both men. Porshahidy is being held in the city of St…

Affton Men Nabbed Jewelry From South County Home, Police Say

Danijel Colic and Hajro Velic, of Affton, were charged Thursday with second-degree burglary and felony theft.

Two Affton men pulled over by St. Louis County Police Tuesday were found to have jewelry stolen in a burglary at a South County home earlier in the day, police said. A witness gave investigators a description of the men, St. Louis County Police said. Danijel Colic, 19, and Hajro Velic, 20, both of the 6700 block of Highland House Court in Affton, were charged Thursday with second-degree burglary and felony stealing. The two men are neighbors. St. Louis County Police said Colic and Velic entered a home in the 10900 block of Cosmos Drive, just south of Grant’s Farm. The two stole several pieces of jewelry, including pins, earrings, necklaces, a bracelet and a wrist watch, police said. The items were valued at a total of $800. A witness …

Affton Mother Charged With Assaulting Daughter Posts Bond

Hedija Jahic was released from jail March 31, and posted bond Monday.

A woman accused of assaulting her daughter posted bond Monday. She was previously was released from the St. Louis County Justice Center March 31. Hedija Jahic, 33, of the 4400 block of Mohegan Drive in Affton, posted 10 percent of a $20,000 bond Monday. She was charged March 30 with two counts of third-degree assault. St. Louis County Police said Jahic punched her daughter, and choked and struck her with an electrical cord at their home in Affton March 27. Jahic became angry with her daughter after reviewing text messages from the girl’s boyfriend, according to a court document. Man Charged in "Drive-By" Robbery in Lemay

St. Louis County said Nicholas Baldrick drove close to a pedestrian so a passenger could punch him and grab his cell phone at Wachtel and Horn avenues.

A man faces criminal charges stemming from a drive-by robbery in the Lemay area. Nicholas Baldrick, 21, of the 800 block of Karon Street in Pevely, was charged March 20 with second-degree robbery. St. Louis County Police said Baldrick was driving and pulled next to a man who was walking 2:40 a.m. Aug. 27 at Wachtel and Horn avenues. The passenger in Baldrick’s car grabbed the victim, punched him in the face and forced the man’s cell phone out of his pocket, police said. The passenger got out and picked up the cell phone, got back in the car and Baldrick drove away, according to the probable cause statement prepared by police. Bail was set at $15,000, but Baldrick was released on his own personal recognizance Wednesday. For more crime …

Accidental Shooting at Cedar Creek Lodge in Affton

One man was hospitalized following the 12:30 p.m. shooting.

A man was shot Thursday afternoon at the Cedar Creek Lodge condo complex on Olde English Road in Affton. Police and crime scene officials were seen outside 7784 Olde English, one of the first buildings in the complex. It houses apartments 73-96, according to a sign on the building. Lieutenant Bryan Ludwig of the St. Louis County Police told Patch the shooting was accidental. "Two gentlemen in their 20s were playing with a loaded handgun, which they did not believe was loaded, and it went off," Ludwig said. "The victim was shot in the shoulder. DWI Checkpoint on Gravois Brings Fourth DWI Charge For Affton Man

St. Louis County Police said the Alan Koerner was driving with a blood-alcohol content at twice the legal limit.

An Affton man faces a felony charge after being stopped at a DWI checkpoint on Gravois Road March 15. Alan Koerner, 39, of the 9000 block of Niles Place in Affton, was charged March 16 with driving while intoxicated as an aggravated offender, and driving while his license was revoked. He has three previous DWI convictions. St. Louis County Police said Koerner drove a 1994 Dodge pickup into a police checkpoint March 15 at 8430 Gravois Road. An officer reported Koerner had difficulty removing his ID from his wallet and Koerner told the officer his driver’s license had been revoked. The officer said he smelled alcohol on Koerner’s breath, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and Koerner did poorly on sobriety tests. A Breathalyzer test show …

Man Shoots Self in Hand Overnight in Affton

St. Louis County Police made an arrest in connection with the case.

One man has been taken to the hospital and another arrested after what St. Louis County Police are calling an accidental shooting. Fox 2 News reports the shooting happened overnight at an Affton home. According to the Fox 2 report, a bullet went through the victim’s hand and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The shooting occurred just before midnight inside a house on Philo. St. Louis County Police told Fox 2 that three men were sitting on the couch watching television. A 21-year-old man had a .40 caliber and a .45 caliber handgun with him. Investigators say a man in his early 20s put a .40 caliber bullet into the .45 gun.
