Congratulations to the Lindbergh High School varsity boys swim and dive team, which scored 10th place with 84 points at the state championships this month. Austin Mayer set a school record in the 200 IM event, with a 10th place finish of 1:58.81. In the 200 Medley Relay, swimmers Jimmy White, Richard Le, Drew Wegman and Ethan Finlinson took 11th place with a time of 1:41.14; and the 200 Free Relay team took 11th place with a time of 1:30.39, an impressive performance by Drew Wegman, Jimmy White, Ethan Finlinson, and Christian Knuepfer. In the 400 Free Relay, Drew Wegman, Austin Mayer, Ethan Finlinson and Christian Knuepfer took 10th place with a time of 3:16.12. Individual accomplishments included:

Johnson Shut-Ins has Missouri's best swimming hole.
Johnson Shut-Ins State Park is a natural wonder that is well worth the drive from St. Louis County. The shut-ins are a magical section of the East Fork of the Black River where the river rock refused to yield—so the water rushes between vertical outcroppings that form chutes, waterfalls, puddles and pools. Name: Jeffrey John Pyne Grade: 12 School: Affton High School Accomplishments: Jeffery earned his Eagle Scout with gold and bronze palms for a project at Greenwood Cemetery, clearing an overgrown area of trees, shrub and brush and raising five markers. He participates in varsity swimming and wrestling and has played on the junior varsity baseball team. He won first place at the Suburban South Diving Championship and has received scholar athelete awards. Jeffery plays first chair in the trumpet section of the Affton High School Band. He's made first place at the TEAMS engineering competition. He has been on the honor list for four years. Oakville outscored Mehlville and Affton, but several Affton Cougars swimmers enjoyed brilliant individual performances.
The swimming pool was filled with shouts of joy during the Tri Meet at Mehlville High School on Wednesday night, which included Mehlville, Affton, and Oakville. Each team managed to achieve personal bests, and were in close competition with each other throughout the evening. The final scores put Oakville on top with 167 points, Mehlville with 101, and Affton with 52. In the 50-yard freestyle, Oakville sophomore Alli Gannon came in first with a time of 29.23 and Affton senior and team captain Ashley Semple came in second with a personal-best of 31.05.
