Intruder Disarmament Training Offered to School Districts Around St. Louis

Law enforcement and school district officials shared area crises plans at a Safe Schools Partnership meeting Thursday. Police-led training could be provided to teachers and administrators.

St. Louis area police and school administrators are taking security measures in schools to the next level, even to the point of perhaps conducting training for teachers about how to disarm intruders and negotiate with shooters who invade schools.  St. Louis County Police Department officers and members of the Safe Schools Partnership met Thursday morning at the Rockwood School District Administrative Annex in Eureka to continue discussions about how to bolster future safety in schools. St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch said police teams are offering to survey the crises and emergency plans for the corresponding schools they service, especially to ensure everyone involved is operating from the same premises. UPDATE: Dead Child Identified as Missing Affton Boy

Tyler Daniel Dasher, 13-months-old, was reported missing from his home this morning. Later a dead body was found less than a mile away.

The body of one-year-old Tyler Dasher was found less than a mile from the Affton home where he toddler was reported missing earlier today, police said. Police have confirmed that the dead child is Tyler Daniel Dasher, reporting missing at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday from the 7730 Clevedon St. The cause of death has not yet been determined, but a St. Louis County Police press release calls the death an "apparent homicide." At 3:30 p.m. area residents walking their dog found a child's body at the edge of New St. Marcus Cemetery and Mausoleum along Des Peres Parkway. When police called a press conference at the crime scene, the area had been cordoned off with police tape, and traffic on Des Peres Parkway was blocked north of Gravois Road. Orange …

The police have arrested and charged the mother with murder. Not sure on details. I can't imagine why she copied the recent Kansas City missing child case. No serial killer here, just a horrible woman.   more ›

UPDATE: County Police Chief Arrives on Crime Scene

Multiple bodies found inside Affton home.

Update 2 p.m.: St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch has arrived on the scene. Police are beginning to bring bodies out of the home. St. Louis County police say they found several bodies inside a home in the 5300 block of Vine Avenue. Ron Monks, who lives across the street on Mathilda, said he heard what he thought were three gunshots around 10 a.m. "I heard three loud pops, and I thought they were fireworks with the Memorial Day holiday and all," he said. "Then the police arrived." Webb Bennett, from the 5300 block of Vine, said his daughter went to school with a teen who lived in the house.
