The St. Louis County Police Highway Safety Unit and officers from the Division of Patrol will be conducting the checkpoints.
The St. Louis County Police Highway Safety Unit and officers from the Division of Patrol announced they will be conducting sobriety checkpoints throughout the month of March. Specially trained officers will be checking motorists in an effort to reduce the number of intoxicated drivers on our streets and highways. Inconvenience to motorists will be minimal, according to a release from St. Louis County Police. The officers participating in the enforcement have had additional training in the recognition of motorists who have had too much to drink or are under the influence of illegal drugs. A former Richmond Heights man is on St. Louis County's Most Wanted list.
Officers for the St. Louis County Police Department website update the Most Wanted list as fugitives are apprehended. The list currently includes suspects wanted for child abuse, statutory sodomy, unlawful uses of weapons, burglary, attempted child enticement, robbery, child kidnapping, stealing, forgery, statutory rape and domestic assault. Among current suspects is Pengfei Hua, whose photo accompanies this article. He is wanted for resisting arrest and assaulting three police officers, which resulted in injuring one of them. Affton Community Involvement Association Chairman Larry Stone offers his stance on whether the County should limit the number of outdoor sales events hosted by churches and non-profit groups.
Should non-profits be limited in how many public fundraisers they host each year? St. Louis County's planning and zoning commission will consider changes to their current zoning ordinance related to outdoor sales events hosted by non-profits, schools and churches on Feb. 25. Currently events that include food concessions, amusement rides, parades, fireworks, alcohol sales and tents require a permit or license. The annual award will go to St. Louis County Police officers from both the Affton and the South County precincts.
For the first time, the St. Louis County Officer of the Year Banquet will honor an officer from both the 3rd Precinct, which covers Affton, and the 4th Precinct in South County. The annual banquet, now in its fourth year, selects an outstanding St. Louis County Police officer to reign as the officer of the year.
