Disabled American Veterans obtained a zoning change for the old Weekends Only store so they could put a thrift store there and I went by it yesterday and it looks like they are almost done moving in. That would have been a great spot if only we knew that several months ago. Hanneke was sold last July or August to theses new owners.

ReplyAffton seems to be held hostage by out of town owners of local property. Here's a great location that is already half empty and now it will be completely empty. Maybe the poor economy has not hit Raymore, MO. We hope Hanneke will be able to relocate in Affton--they have been in Affton for many years and have been a wonderful supporter of the chamber in the past.

ReplyHeartland Industries, formerly WAC Industries, purchased a much larger building to accomodate the increase in business. They provide over 170 adults with disabilities meaningful & dignified employment. They seek all types of projects & specialize in custom assembly work, handwork & packaging. They also offer mailing services that include full ink jetting & pre-sorting of addresses. They assemble a variety of parts for industry to include electrical connectors, machine parts, etc. They have an outstanding packaging department that includes; high speed labeling, drilling and shrink packaging. Our "FDA" & "Board of Pharmacy" approved department is dedicated to the repackaging of pharmaceutical and other food products.

ReplyVisited there for dinner on Monday. Ribs & sides (picnic potatoes, cole slaw, & fried biscuits) were great. Looking forward to trying some lunch items.
