Another Affton Business Goes to Weeds, Now What?

An Affton community leader wonders about Affton's future.

Larry Stone, recently retired charman of the Affton Community Involvement Association is a big Affton booster, and he doesn't like what he sees at the intsection of Gravois Road and Tesson Ferry.

The 7-Eleven at the major Affton corner announced its closing, which made Stone wonder about the direction business is headed in Affton.

Stone emailed to Patch and other Affiliate Members of the ACIA with his concerns.

"Note that the 7-Eleven at Tesson Ferry and Gravois will be closing, the underground tanks will be dug up, and the store will be boarded up!" Stone said.

He said the 7-Eleven is joining and the former Shell station ending up in "asphalt and weeds."

"Pretty sad state of affairs for one of the most prominent intersections in Affton!" he said. "Now what? We're fast tracking from economic development to arrested development. Sad."

Stone said he went by the 7-Eleven on Saturday and the shelves and freezers are almost totally empty, and he doesn't think it will last until the scheduled Friday closing.
