Syberg's Hasn't Applied For Expansion, County Says

Syberg's in Affton wants to expand, and St. Louis County says the ball is in their court.

Last week, Patch reported on a letter the Affton Community Involvement Association (ACIA) wrote to county councilman Steve Stenger, asking him to look into why the county seemed to be dragging its heels on a Syberg’s restaurant request for expansion.

Stenger asked a county manager of code enforcement to look into it the day the article published.

On Friday, St. Louis County Public Information Manager David Wrone responded to Patch, by email, on behalf of the county.

Wrone said the Department of Planning reviewed Syberg’s expansion plan in August.

“In regard to Syberg’s plan, the Department of Planning expressed concerns and questions about several issues, and awaits a response from Syberg’s management to those questions and concerns,” Wrone said.

He said the planning department looks at set-backs from the property line, parking requirements and landscaping, for example.

Wrone said the Department of Public Works would be responsible for reviewing Syberg’s building application, which would include the actual building plans drawn up by the petitioner (Syberg’s). So far, the county hasn’t received an application from Syberg’s, he said.
